Supplier Spotlight | Rhymes to Remember
This week’s blog is all about the very lovely Sally Wilkes, from Rhymes to Remember. Sally is a writer based in Derbyshire, specialising in bespoke, personalised vows and poems. Take a read below to find out more about her and her amazing work.
Tell us a bit more about yourself
I live in Derbyshire with my husband and two little girls. I’ve been writing poetry for around 5 years now. Before that, I was a lecturer in statistics so it was quite a career change!
How did you get into this business?
I’ve always been a creative person but it wasn’t until just after my eldest daughter was born that I started writing poetry. The pieces I wrote were fuelled by the rollercoaster of emotions I was going through as a new mum. Eventually, I began to share these poems and was quite taken aback that what I was writing actually really resonated with other people. It wasn’t long before I started to get requests for bespoke poems and so Rhymes To Remember grew from there.
What is your favourite wedding style/product that you provide?
I love writing bespoke vows, speeches or poems that tell a couple’s life or love story. It gives me a chance to really get to know the couple and every story I hear is so different. I feel quite honoured that people feel comfortable enough to share so many details of their lives with me.
What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?
I get to work with so many amazing people. From the couples I write for to the incredibly talented wedding suppliers I’ve established links with. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging.
What makes you different to the competition?
My values. I didn’t set up Rhymes To Remember solely to make money. I set it up because I wanted to use my passion for writing to make a difference. I want to write pieces that really resonate with people. Pieces that really hit the heart!

What top tips would you give couples planning their big day?
To couples planning their big day, I would say to remember that it is exactly that…THEIR big day. Your wedding should be a day about you and not a day that’s driven by a feeling of obligation to please all of their guests.
What is your biggest business highlight?
I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been featured in some amazing wedding blogs and magazines over the last year. But in actual fact, my biggest highlight as a writer was receiving a photo showing two of my poems that had been pinned to the team board on a Covid ward to lift the spirits of the incredible NHS staff working there. That was a very proud moment and I still feel a bit teary now when I think back to it.
