Tell us a bit more about yourself
I have been a photographer for about 4 years. I launched my business in April this year and it has only been in the last year that I have got into wedding photography. I swore that it was something I would never do, then a friend of a family member asked me to photograph her wedding. I did and I loved it! I then got involved with a styled shoot and everything spiralled from there. I am still progressing and learning but I couldn’t be happier with where my business is at right now.
How did you get into this business?
My dad was always a bit of a hobbiest with a camera, I started to take over and play around with cameras, and realised I was kinda good. I then broke his camera and gave it back innocently without mentioning it got drowned by a wave! I bought myself one for my 18th birthday and went on to study photography at college. Instead of going to university I set up by myself and that’s where I am now.
What is your favourite wedding style/product that you provide?
I love being able to provide my couples with memories to last a lifetime. Photographs are one of the main things that get kept for years after a wedding and I love that I can give that to someone.
What is your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?
I haven’t found anything I don’t love yet! I have met some incredibly talented suppliers, that I know I will be friends with for years to come. I love being surrounded by love and so much happiness.
What makes you different to the competition?
Photography is a huge thing now and there are hundreds of people trying to get into the industry. There will always be competition for me. But I think my style is quite unique and aimed at my ideal clients. I love quirky and alternative weddings – maybe because I’m a bit alternative! I know there is competition, but I like to think that community comes over competition. I am friends with so many photographers and at the end of the day we are all in competition with each other, but we also have each other if we are already booked for a wedding, or we need a second photographer.
What top tips would you give couples planning their being day?
I would say Instagram and Pinterest is amazing for inspiration! Also, this is your day and you do you. Don’t let anyone tell you what you should and shouldn’t do. When looking for suppliers, testimonials are always worth looking at. And when booking your photographer/videographer, make sure you meet them beforehand, or at least facetime. They are the only supplier that will be spending the whole day with you. You need to make sure you get on!
What is your biggest business highlight?
All of the amazing people I get to work with. I was worried that being self-employed would be quite lonely. But through social media and networking, I have met some amazing people that I wouldn’t be the same without.
Tell me more about the face(s) behind the brand
I am a daft, blonde (in both ways) girl from Derbyshire. I’m quite laid-back and I cry at anything (the latest is Great British Bake off!) so I always cry at weddings. I live at home with my mum and dad and I am often off exploring somewhere with my photographer boyfriend. I love dogs, harry potter and friends. Oh and a Yorkshire brew! What you see is what you get with me!
How can people get in touch with you?
I am on Instagram, or they can get in touch via my get in touch page on my website.
